What should I expect?
An ultrasound machine will be used to map out each vein. Then, a local anesthetic is applied. A thin laser fiber is inserted through a tiny entry point, usually near the knee and then laser energy is delivered to seal the faulty vein.
Walking immediately after the procedure is encouraged. Normal daily activity can be resumed; avoid rigorous activities such as gym workouts.
What are the risks of laser vein removal?
There may be minor soreness and bruising. Any discomfort can be treated with over-the-counter, non- aspirin pain relievers as necessary.
The targeted veins are permanently treated, but if you are predisposed, new varicose veins may appear in the future and need additional treatments.
